I was born in the other
state, New Jersey. I knew I always wanted to be an artist,
my father was a recognized fine artist and my aunt an award winning
pastelist. When I moved to California I worked as a graphic artist
for many years which included working in the production department
and running a printing press. Eventually I started drawing pen
and ink illustrations of houses for the Real Estate companies.
Drawing was always a favorite form of art for me and I decided
to try painting as an added skill and this opened a whole new
world for me.
My interests turned into painting
plein air. I painted landscapes for many years until I decided
to try something different. I started studying figure painting
to perfect my artistic abilities. I enrolled at the Academy of
Art and graduated in 2009 with a MFA. During the course of my
studies I studied under the guidance of Dean Larson who has become
my mentor and friend.
I still paint many landscapes and figures. I like to switch between
both subjects for variety, which keeps my paintings fresh and
