Brandon Smith is an Oakland, California based painter who received his BFA in Oil Painting in 2002 from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. His painting style incorporates traditional realism with contemporary brush strokes.

While Attending the Academy of Art Brandon studied under Craig Nelson, Brian Blood, Huihan Liu, Xiao Ming Wu, Carolyn Meyer, Thomas Marsh, Kevin Moore and apprenticed for Cederic Wentworth.

Inspired by the Bay Area's cafés and industrial streets, his paintings revolve around everyday life. His subject matter ranges from figurative works to urban street compositions. He paints both plein air and from photographs he takes as references.

Since 2003 Brandon is Faculty at the Academy of Art University. The Waterhouse Gallery in Santa Barbara and Studio Gallery in San Francisco currently represent him and he was recently featured as an emerging artist in Southwest Art Magazine.
