Being primarily a studio painter,
Eric feels it is important for an artist to use all his years
of knowledge gained through academic study and painting from
life to recapture a specific moment in time. Painting should
be about an emotion not just be a portrait of the subject matter.
Eric brings his bravura brushwork
and colorful interpretations to each canvas whether his subject
is a Santa Barbara beach or a simple still life. His images are
filled with light and wonderful color harmonies.
Slaytons extensive art
education has encompassed studies at the University of Arizona,
Tucson; Escuela de los Artes, Universidad de Madrid, Spain; UCLA
Art Center, Los Angeles; Scottsdale Artists School and California
Art Institute.
He has had paintings hanging
in the West Wing of the White House and is an exhibiting artist
with the Art in Embassies Program sponsored by the U.S. Department
of State.
Eric is an Artists Member of
the California Art Club, Oil Painters of America and the American
Society of Marine Artists.
